>log in to commentWe’ve been building Traccia because we kept seeing the same gap with AI agents: once an agent can call tools, make decisions and take actions, a traditional trace can tell you what happened — but not whether that action was acceptable. With traditional software, an execution usually follows a path defined by the developer. Agents are different. They can reason, choose tools, change their path and take actions we didn’t explicitly define. That creates a new infrastructure problem for teams deploying agents in production: What did the agent do? Why did it do it? Was it allowed to? Which policy and permissions applied? And can we prove what happened afterwards? Traccia is our AI Agent Control Plane — a vendor-neutral layer to observe what agents do, evaluate how they behave, govern what they’re allowed to do, and audit what happened. We’ve open-sourced the Traccia SDK and built it developer-first, with OpenTelemetry at the foundation. It works across models and agent frameworks, so teams can add observability and governance without being locked into a single AI vendor. We’re still early, and we’re building this alongside developers and teams actually deploying agents. I’d especially love feedback from people running agents in production: What are you using today to debug agent behaviour? How are you evaluating agents? And more importantly — how do you control what an agent is allowed to do? We’re also making it easier to try Traccia during the launch. 3 months free with coupon code: TRACCIAPH

Key features
- Unified Agent Registry — Tracks all agents across LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK and more without code changes.
- End-to-End Tracing — OpenTelemetry-native visibility into every LLM call, tool use and decision.
- Policy Monitoring & Enforcement — Three-tier guardrails that hard-block violations mid-execution.
- Cost & Token Attribution — Accurate per-model cost and token tracking, computed locally at span-end.
- PII & Sensitive Data Detection — Detects and masks personal data in traces before export.
- Prompt Registry & Playground — Versioned prompts with side-by-side evaluation and production promotion.
- Compliance Evidence — One-click export of audit-ready packs for EU AI Act and HIPAA.
- Analytics & ROI — Basic and advanced analytics, scheduled exports and an API for deeper insights.
Use cases
- Monitor health, latency and errors of customer-support chat agents in real time
- Attribute LLM spend to specific agents and prompts to control costs
- Enforce data-privacy policies by blocking agents that expose PII
- Validate new prompt versions against production baselines before rollout
- Export compliance evidence for EU AI Act or HIPAA audits

- Traccia vs Fine: Fine focuses on building software with AI agents but lacks a unified control plane and policy enforcement.
- Traccia vs SuperAGI Cloud: SuperAGI Cloud provides cloud hosting for agents but does not offer the same open-source SDK or OpenTelemetry tracing.
- Traccia vs Pocketenv: Pocketenv offers a sandbox runtime for agents, whereas Traccia adds observability, cost attribution and governance across any runtime.
- Traccia vs Calljmp: Calljmp runs agents as code on a managed backend but does not include the comprehensive dashboard, compliance evidence, or policy hard-blocking that Traccia provides.
Traccia FAQ
How does Traccia enforce policies?+
It uses a three-tier guardrail engine that can hard-block agents mid-execution based on explicit annotations, provider signals or heuristics.
Does Traccia add latency to agent calls?+
No. The guardrail detection runs as a passive span processor after each trace, adding zero runtime overhead.
Can I export audit evidence for regulations?+
Yes, Traccia provides one-click export packs for EU AI Act articles and optional HIPAA controls.
What observability backends does Traccia support?+
Traccia can export OTLP traces to any OpenTelemetry-compatible backend such as Jaeger, Grafana Tempo, Zipkin or SigNoz.
Is there a free tier for experimentation?+
The Hobby plan is free, includes 50 K events and 7-day data retention, suitable for testing.
