FontCraft is a web app that allows anyone to create a font from their own handwriting. Instead of relying solely on printed templates and scanned uploads, FontCraft lets users draw glyphs directly in the browser and watch their font take shape in real time.
The tool works particularly well on an iPad with Apple Pencil, where drawing letters feels similar to writing on paper. Users can sketch each glyph directly in the app using different pen styles and settings, refine spacing and alignment in a dedicated editing mode, preview how the font will look in real text, and export it as TTF, OTF, or WOFF2.
For people who prefer the traditional workflow, FontCraft also supports downloading a template, filling it in by hand, and uploading a photo to generate the font automatically.
FontCraft is designed for creatives, designers, and anyone who wants a more personal typeface. It can be used for things like journaling, custom invitations, branding, signage, or personal design projects.
The project is currently bootstrapped and actively developed, with a focus on making font creation simpler and more accessible while still producing high quality results.
