We built Screen To GIF because a GIF of a bug says more than a paragraph of repro steps. Pick a tab, a window or any region of your screen, record, trim and crop it, and save a GIF, MP4 or WebM that drops straight into a GitHub issue or PR. Everything runs locally in Chrome: no uploads, no watermark. We'd love your feedback, especially on what would make it more useful in your bug-report workflow.

Show the bug instead of describing it. Screen To GIF records a Chrome tab, an app window or any region of your screen and saves a GIF you can drop straight into a GitHub issue, a pull request, a Jira ticket or a Slack thread. Trim to the frames that matter, crop out the noise, and pick the output size before you save, with a live estimate of the file size. Recording and encoding run locally, so nothing leaves your machine. Works on Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS, wherever Chrome does.

Screen To GIF FAQ

Does it work without a network connection?+

Yes. Capture and encoding are local. You only need a network if the page you capture needs one.

Can I record system audio or my microphone?+

No, not in this version. Recordings are silent, which is what most documentation and bug reports need.

Is this related to the ScreenToGif desktop app?+

No, it is an independent Chrome extension with no affiliation to the Windows app.
