Hey everyone 👋 I'm Harjot, the maker. I use Meta's Muse Code every day, and keeping one terminal per project got messy fast: I lost track of which session was waiting on me, what it changed, and what it was costing. So I built Helicon, a desktop app that sits on top of the muse CLI you already have. - Every project and thread in one sidebar - Edits as inline diffs where they happened, with keep/undo - Approvals one at a time, with the exact command shown - A usage page that prices each thread at API rates, plus your 5-hour and weekly limits - Also ships as a VS Code extension (works in Cursor, Windsurf and Antigravity) It's MIT-licensed and free. You can try it in the browser at helicon.sh/try without installing anything. I'd love feedback, especially on what's missing from your Muse Code workflow. (Unofficial community project, not affiliated with Meta.)

Helicon is a free, MIT-licensed desktop app (Windows, macOS, Linux) and VS Code extension for Meta's Muse Code CLI. It drives the muse command you already have: no API key, no second bill. Threads from every project sit in one sidebar, edits show as inline diffs where they happened, approvals come one at a time, and workflows, side chats and SSH projects are built in. A usage page prices each thread at published API rates. Try it in your browser at helicon.sh/try. Unofficial, not affiliated with Meta.
  • Free, open‑source desktop and web app
  • All projects, sessions and diffs in one window
  • Inline diffs appear right where they happen
  • Projects grouped by folder with worktrees
  • Local state stored in SQLite on your machine

Helicon is a free, open-source desktop and web GUI for Meta’s Muse Code CLI, showing projects, threads, diffs and approvals in one window.

Key features

6 features of Helicon
  • Unified sidebar — Projects, threads, diffs, approvals and cost are displayed side-by-side in a single window.
  • Inline diffs — Edits appear as inline diffs exactly where the change occurred.
  • Approval workflow — Each approval is surfaced immediately; commands run only after you allow them.
  • Cost view — Shows the estimated API cost of each thread based on Meta’s published rates.
  • Keyboard-first navigation — Command palette, slash commands and model picker enable full operation without a mouse.
  • Cross-platform — Available as a Tauri desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux and as a web app pointing at a remote daemon.

Use cases

  • Review and approve Muse Code generated commands with a visual diff view
  • Monitor estimated API costs of each thread while developing
  • Resume terminal-started Muse Code sessions from a single GUI
  • Run Helicon against a remote daemon from any browser

LaunchedOct 2026————
  • Helicon vs Cursor: Cursor is an AI-powered code editor, while Helicon is a GUI for the Muse Code CLI only.
  • Helicon vs Cline: Cline provides an autonomous coding agent inside IDEs, whereas Helicon visualizes Muse Code sessions.
  • Helicon vs Aider: Aider is a terminal-based AI pair programmer; Helicon offers a graphical interface for the same Muse Code backend.
  • Helicon vs OpenAI Codex: OpenAI Codex is a separate coding agent platform; Helicon is a client for Meta’s Muse Code, not OpenAI.
