I built DBine as a free desktop manager that lets you work with 130 different database engines—SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and many more—without installing any vendor clients. It also includes a live profiler to see queries in real time. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

DBine is a desktop database manager for Windows, macOS and Linux, with a Rust core and a VS Code-style interface. It connects to more than 40 engines, from PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL to MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Cassandra and Neo4j. Every feature works on every engine that can support it. Cross-engine migration. Move a database to a different engine, for example SQL Server to PostgreSQL. DBine converts types, defaults, identities, keys and indexes, and tells you anything it couldn't carry over exactly. Data moves with each engine's native bulk load, several tables in parallel with bounded memory, and an interrupted run can be resumed. Between two databases on the same engine, you can also clone the source exactly or sync only what changed. Schema and data comparison. Compare two databases side by side, even on different engines. Tables, views, routines and triggers are diffed down to each column, index and key. Push changes either way and DBine writes the script in each engine's own language. Row-level data comparison works the same way. AI assistant that never executes. It writes queries, explains them and fixes them, and its only output is code placed in your editor. There is no technical path for it to run anything. You can use it fully offline with the built-in local model or Ollama, or bring your own Claude Code or Codex account. MCP server with real guardrails. It lets agents like Claude Code browse your connections, and each connection gets its own access level: none, schema only, read, or write. Every write must be approved in DBine before it runs. Connections tagged prod never go above read-only, and each client gets its own token. Live Profiler and server monitor. See every query hitting a database as it runs, with duration, CPU and reads, plus percentiles for each query pattern. Also included: a table designer, ER diagrams, users and permissions, backups, SSH tunnels with bastion chains, graphical execution plans, and encrypted cloud sync to your own Google Drive or OneDrive. Passwords stay in the OS keychain and never leave your machine unencrypted.
  • Explorer and queries with automatic save
  • Smart editor with dialect‑specific autocomplete
  • Results grid with per‑column filters and multi‑format export
  • Safe cell editing that generates update code
  • Profiler shows live queries across dozens of engines

Key features

8 features of DBine
  • 130 engine support — Connect to SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake, BigQuery and dozens more without installing vendor clients.
  • Live query profiler — Right-click a connection to see every query with time, duration, user and error details, safely in production.
  • Schema compare & sync — Compare two databases side-by-side and generate ordered migration scripts with undo support.
  • Real-time monitoring — View CPU, memory, sessions and query rate for any server with a single click.
  • Migration & data compare — Convert schemas between engines and sync table rows, with preview scripts before execution.
  • AI assistant integration — Write, explain and fix queries using local LLMs such as Ollama, Claude Code or Codex, without sending data to the cloud.
  • End-to-end encrypted sync — Sync connections, queries and preferences via Google Drive, OneDrive or a local folder using your own passphrase.
  • Import from other tools — Bring in connections from DBeaver, DataGrip, Azure Data Studio, SSMS and others in seconds.

Use cases

  • Compare production and development schemas to generate migration scripts.
  • Profile live queries on a production database to find slow statements.
  • Migrate a PostgreSQL database to Snowflake with automatic type conversion.
  • Monitor server health metrics and receive alerts before outages.
  • Use the AI assistant to rewrite a complex query for better performance.

DBine FAQ

Is DBine free to use?+

Yes, DBine is free and will remain free; you can optionally support the project with donations.

Do I need to install vendor client software for each database?+

No, DBine includes its own drivers for all supported engines, so no extra client installations are required.

Can I use DBine on Linux, macOS and Windows?+

Yes, installers are provided for Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Linux (AppImage, .deb, .rpm).

How does DBine keep my data safe when syncing?+

Sync uses end-to-end encryption with a user-provided passphrase; passwords are stored in the system keychain, not in files or logs.

What AI models can I connect to the AI assistant?+

You can connect local models via Ollama, LM Studio, Claude Code, Codex or any compatible LLM that runs locally.

Does the profiler modify production data?+

When using read-only connections the profiler never changes data; it only captures query information.
