}Security notes
- The remote server runs at mcp.tavily.com, hosted by Tavily. You sign in with OAuth in clients that support it, and it acts with your account's permissions.
- The local server runs with your user's permissions (npx downloads it from npm on first run).
- Needs TAVILY_API_KEY. Use a key or token with the narrowest scopes (read-only if there is one), and keep it out of config files you commit (.mcp.json, .vscode/mcp.json).
- It brings web content into the conversation, which can carry prompt-injection instructions. Keep approval prompts on for actions that write or send.
