}Agent skills for Firebase
The MCP server gives the agent Firebase's tools; a skill teaches it how to use Firebase well. Install with the skills CLI or see each skill's page for Claude Code, Codex, Copilot and Cursor.
- Firebase BasicsFirebase (Google)
Installs and logs into the Firebase CLI, creates or selects projects and fetches app config.
npx skills add firebase/agent-skills --skill firebase-basics - Cloud FirestoreFirebase (Google)
Sets up Firestore databases: data modeling, queries, indexes, rules and SDK usage.
npx skills add firebase/agent-skills --skill firebase-firestore - Firebase Security Rules AuditorFirebase (Google)
Audits Firestore and Storage rules for privilege escalation, bypasses and missing checks.

Which one to pick
- Start with Firebase: it's maintained by Google and follows its API.
- A remote server (Google Developer Knowledge) needs no install and signs you in with OAuth. It's also the only kind ChatGPT and claude.ai can use.
- A local server (Firebase) runs on your machine with an API key or token, and works offline from the vendor's hosting.
FAQ
Is there an official Firebase MCP server?+
Yes: Firebase and Google Developer Knowledge, maintained by Google.
How do I connect Firebase to Claude?+
In Claude Code, run the claude mcp add command shown above. In Claude Desktop, add the server to claude_desktop_config.json (Settings > Developer > Edit Config) and restart the app.
How do I use the Firebase MCP server in Cursor or VS Code?+
Open the Cursor or VS Code tab on the server above: it has the exact mcp.json entry and a one-click install link. The same server also works in Claude Code, Claude Desktop / claude.ai, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Codex.
Can I use the Firebase MCP server in ChatGPT?+
ChatGPT connects to remote MCP servers only. Google Developer Knowledge has a hosted URL: at chatgpt.com/plugins choose + > Add custom MCP server, paste the URL and create it as a plugin.
Is it safe to give an AI agent access to Firebase?+
Start with the official server, a read-only or test account and approval prompts on for anything that writes. Content the agent reads from Firebase (tickets, messages, pages) can carry prompt-injection instructions, so don't auto-approve actions.
