FAQ

Is Render or Railway cheaper?+

Railway is cheaper at every traffic level we priced. The calculator above prices your exact traffic; small teams with static sites and large teams with heavy server code often get opposite answers.

How does Render charge?+

A workspace plan (Hobby $0 for one person, Pro $25 flat for a team) plus instances billed per second: Starter 0.5 CPU / 512 MB is $7/month. Static sites are free to host. Included bandwidth is small (5 GB Hobby, 25 GB Pro), then $0.15/GB. Free instances sleep after 15 minutes idle and aren’t meant for production.

How does Railway charge?+

Pure usage billing per second: $20 per vCPU-month and $10 per GB of RAM a month actually used, egress $0.05/GB, builds free. The plan fee (Hobby $5 for one developer, Pro $20 for a team) counts toward usage, so you pay whichever is higher. We assume 0.5 GB of RAM per replica.
