FAQ
Is Render or Heroku cheaper?+
Heroku is cheaper at every traffic level we priced. The calculator above prices your exact traffic; small teams with static sites and large teams with heavy server code often get opposite answers.
How does Render charge?+
A workspace plan (Hobby $0 for one person, Pro $25 flat for a team) plus instances billed per second: Starter 0.5 CPU / 512 MB is $7/month. Static sites are free to host. Included bandwidth is small (5 GB Hobby, 25 GB Pro), then $0.15/GB. Free instances sleep after 15 minutes idle and aren’t meant for production.
How does Heroku charge?+
No free plan and no seat fees; you pay per dyno, prorated to the second. Basic ($7, 512 MB, always on) runs one dyno per process type; Standard-1X ($25) and up scale out. Bandwidth isn’t billed but each app has a 2 TB/month soft limit. Eco ($5 for 1,000 sleeping hours) is for personal apps only.
