FAQ
Is Railway or Fly.io cheaper?+
Fly.io is cheaper at every traffic level we priced. The calculator above prices your exact traffic; small teams with static sites and large teams with heavy server code often get opposite answers.
How does Railway charge?+
Pure usage billing per second: $20 per vCPU-month and $10 per GB of RAM a month actually used, egress $0.05/GB, builds free. The plan fee (Hobby $5 for one developer, Pro $20 for a team) counts toward usage, so you pay whichever is higher. We assume 0.5 GB of RAM per replica.
How does Fly.io charge?+
No plan fee and no free tier (only a short trial). Machines are billed per second while running: shared-cpu-1x with 512 MB is $3.69/month, a dedicated performance-1x $33. Egress $0.02/GB in North America and Europe, more in Asia and Africa. Shared CPUs have a small baseline, so we let them carry a quarter of a core.
