Safety check

Is ChatMatch safe?

What we checked about chatmatch.app and its DevHunt listing, and what to watch out for with random video chat sites. Checked November 2, 2026.

No red flags in what we checked

On November 2, 2026 chatmatch.app showed none of the warning signs we look for. That isn’t a guarantee: we can’t see what it does with your data or files after you use it, so read what to watch out for below.

The website

checked November 2, 2026
  • It loads over HTTPS with a valid certificate.
  • The domain chatmatch.app has been registered since 2024-02-29 (2 years at our check).
  • It shows Google ads.
  • We saw no sign-up or log-in on its home page.
  • Its home page mentions prices or paid plans.

We loaded https://www.chatmatch.app/ once, read its home page (without running its scripts) and looked up the domain’s registration in its registry. We don’t test downloads, apps or payments, and a site can change after our check. For a second opinion, look the address up on Google Safe Browsing.

On DevHunt

  • Listed on DevHunt since August 20, 2025 (15 months), launched January 6, 2026.
  • Submitted by James Jones (a DevHunt account; we don’t verify makers’ identities).
  • 0 upvotes and 0 comments from other users: too few to say anything about it.
  • Pricing on its listing: Subscription, free.

Watch out for with random video chat sites

applies to any such tool
  • Assume you’re being recorded. Strangers can screen-record the call, and "sextortion" scams start exactly this way.
  • Don’t show your face with anything that identifies you: your name, school, workplace, street or documents.
  • Don’t click links or move to another app at a stranger’s request, and never send money or gift cards.
  • These sites are for adults. Check the age rules and how to report users before you start.
  • Turn off camera and microphone access for the site in your browser settings when you’re done.
